The Giant’s Causeway is one of the most popular
destination in the UK. It is located in Northerm Ireland and it was created 60
million years ago when a field of lava cooled and formed lots of blocks.
This
is the scientific description of the landscape but there is a legend of this
formation. According to legend, the columns are the remains of a causeway built by a giant. The story goes that the Irish giant Fionn was
challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner. Fionn accepted the
challenge and built the causeway across the North Channel so that the two giants could meet.
As we can see, most of the columns are hexagonal,
although there are some with five or four sides.
The lanscape makes someone
feel peaceful and lively and it is a perfect destination for seeing the
sunrise.
